2024年11月21日下午,美国国家科学院院士、美国国家艺术与科学院院士、麻省理工学院Timothy M. Swager教授应邀作为南京大学 “戴安邦学术讲坛”嘉宾,为学院师生作了题为“Intrinsically Porous Organic Polymers in Sensing and Catalysis”的精彩报告。本次报告由化学化工学院院长黎书华教授主持。黎书华院长介绍了Timothy M. Swager教授的简历和在科学研究中卓越成就,并向Timothy M. Swager教授颁发了南京大学“戴安邦学术讲坛”纪念铭牌。我校多个学科的教师及学生参加了报告会。
Timothy教授提出了将刚性3D分子构建块融合到聚合物骨架来创建聚合物之间空隙的概念。第一个例子是带有五蝶烯基团的共轭聚(亚苯乙炔),它们在薄膜状态下显示出强大的发射特性,并证实具有尺寸排斥特性以及由于激发态转运而放大的感官响应,这些特性使得FidoTM炸药探测器得以商业化。Timothy教授阐释了设计固有微孔有机聚合物的关键原则是3D基团必须融合在聚合物中,而不是简单地悬挂在聚合物中。同时,Timothy教授还详细介绍了其课题组最新的全氟烷基物质(PFAS)发射型传感器,它们利用激发态转运来创建高灵敏度(ppt)。类似的衍生材料还被应用到了光氧化还原催化中。催化多孔有机聚合物代表了多相催化的新途径;其中分子环境可被调整以满足甚至超过均相系统的选择性和活性。此外,它们还能在叶轮、玻璃器皿、磁性颗粒或管道表面形成持久的催化涂层,用于循环和流动反应器中使用。报告结束后,Timothy教授同与会师生进行了热烈的交流与讨论。
Timothy M. Swager教授:
Timothy M. Swager (born 1961) is an American Scientist and the John D. MacArthur Professor of Chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His research is at the interface of chemistry and materials science, with specific interests in carbon nanomaterials, polymers, and liquid crystals. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences, American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the National Academy of Inventors. Swager has published more than 500 peer reviewed manuscripts in internationally renowned academic journals such as Science, Nature, Nat. Chem., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Adv. Mater. and Nat. Commun. and has more than 100 issued patents. As of October 2024, he has a H-index of 123 and an i10 index of 576.
