Professor Vladimir Bregadze graduated from the Chemistry Department of M.V.Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1960. He received his Ph.D. and D.Sc. degree, Professor of Chemistry in USSR Academy of Sciences. Now he is a Head of Laboratory of Organoaluminum and Boron Compounds of A.N.Nesmeyanov Institute of Organoelement Compounds, Russian Academy of Sciences (from 1989).

Cobalt bis(1,2-dicarbollide) anion is the most investigated representative of this class of boron compounds. In this lecture we present our recent results in the chemistry of cobalt and iron bis(dicarbollide) anions [3,3’-M(1,2-C2B9H11)2]- and their potential applications.Conjugates of cobalt and iron bis(dicarbollide) anions [3,3’-M(1,2-C2B9H11)2]- with chlorine e6 were prepared and their accumulation in human lung adenocarcinoma A549 cells and biodistribution in mice with transplanted CT26 murine colon carcinoma as potential BNCT agents were studied. Synthesis, structure and electrical conductivity of fulvalenium salts of cobalt and iron bis(dicarbollides) were discussed. Development of these investigations will be presented.

The synthesis and properties of the nitrilium derivatives of closo-dodecaborate [B12H12]2-, closo-decaborate [B10H10]2- and nido-decaborate [B10H14]2- will be discussed.  The results on the preparartion of alkylnitrilium derivatives of nido-carborane 10-RC≡N-7,8-C2B9H11 (R = Me, Et, CH2CH2OCH2CH2CN) and ethylnitrilium derivatives of cobalt and iron bis(dicarbollides), their hydrolysis followed by the treatment with base and the reactions with alcohols, thiols and amines will be presented.

Prof. Igor Sivaev graduated from the Mendeleev Moscow Institute of Chemical Technology (1987) as a  Chemical Engineer, then he explored boron hydride at the Kurnakov Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry, Russian Academy of Sciences. Later, he pursued his PhD degree at the Department of Organic Chemistry, Uppsala University, Sweden (2000) and joined Prof. Vladimir Bregadze group . In 2014, he received a Doctor of Chemical Sciences degree (habilitation) at the Nesmeyanov Institute of Organoelement Compounds, Russian Academy of Sciences where currently he is a Leading Researcher (Research Professor). His scientific interests are the chemistry and application of polyhedral boron hydrides, including boranes, carboranes and metallacarboranes.
报告简介:
Design of rotatory molecular switches based on extremely stable sandwich organometallic complexes ferrocene and bis(dicarbollide) complexes of transition metals will be discussed. The “on”–“off” switching in these systems can be controlled by various external stimuli such as change of the solution pH, interactions with coordinating species or redox reactions involving the central atom or substituents in the ligands.
